We stand as one or we stand alone

WTNH Channel 8 interview on Anti-ICE peaceful protest in Hartford, CT on January 13th, 2026

On Tuesday, January 13th, 2026, a friend and I stood on the southern lawn of the Connecticut State Capital to protest the murder of Renee Good in Minnesota by ICE that took place on January 7th, 2026 along with dozens of others. ICE has been acting as a terrorist organization within our borders. They have very little training if at all, and they don't seem to know how to deescalate situations, instead they tend to escalate them more often than not.

We need an immigration services doctrine that respects people, regardless of their citizenship status. One that works to open the pathway to legal immigration, that doesn't put people or police at risk. To do this we need to expand the department of immigration and clear up the bottlenecks that have led to people waiting years to get through the paperwork of citizenship. We need a system that proves that we care about people.

Immigrants add color to our society, their food, art, music, and hard work all go into making our country the gorgeous tapestry that it is. All of us come from immigrants. The first people who came to the North American continent came here 30,000 years ago, that's it! We are all the product of immigration, and we are better for it. Let's make green cards, visas and citizenship more accessible, so that people can legally live here without fear.

If we do not stand against this, then we are complicit in it.
